MM residents feel safer; cops step up crime drive
At least 82 percent of Metro Manila residents feel safer in the streets due to the intensified police campaign against illegal drugs, a Pulse Asia survey shows.
Pulse Asia randomly selected and surveyed 500 respondents from Dec. 6 to 11, 2016.
They were asked the question, “Compared to last year, I feel that it is less dangerous now in our place because of the campaign against illegal drugs.” Eighty-two percent said they felt safer.
Director Oscar Albayalde of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said he is inspired by the result of the Pulse Asia survey. He vowed to do more in the drug war, suppression and prevention of criminality, campaign against illegal gambling and
cleansing of police ranks.
“This result will serve as our driving force to continue our mission on eradicating illegal drugs and other illegal activities in Metro Manila,” he said.
“We will take this accomplishment as one of our basis and guide to further improve our performance, to address the security demands of the public and to further pursue our transformation program,” he added.
Albayalde also thanked the public and encouraged them to continue their support and cooperation in all of the NCRPO’s undertakings.
“The fulfillment of the service that we render to the public is the acceptance of the public of our services, as we have always emphasized that policing is not just our responsibility but of the community as well,” he said.
“The response they provided in this survey reflects their concerns. We will innovate and do more until we get to 100 percent,” he added.
