SNIP-SNIP IN A SNAP
Haircuts don’t have to take all day. At Kaizen, a novel hairstyling concept that originated in Japan and has since grown to Indonesia and the Philippines, five easy steps means you’re in and out in 10 minutes: quick, clean, stylish, affordable and waterless.
“More and more customers need no-fuss, fast and efficient ways to look and feel good, so we launched Kaizen,” says Kaizen Philippines director Chinky Gabas. “The waterless process is a fresh, clean, and quick approach for those who need no more than 10 minutes to improve their looks.”
Kaizen’s first branch is at the 5th floor of SM Manila. The word Kaizen comes from Japanese words kai (meaning “changes”) and zen (meaning “continuous”). Thus Kaizen translates to “continuous improvement,” which is exactly what the salon promises.
Along with up-to-date hairstyles, Kaizen sterilizes its equipment in UV boxes, and uses disposable neck paper instead of hot towels; customers even take home the comb used for their haircut. Kaizen also uses the “Zen Wash Technique,” employing an air-washer vacuum instead of water to ensure no stray hairs and a “fresh feeling” finish. At a cost of P150 per cut, “it’s very affordable,” added Gabas.
Stylists offer customers a “menu” of haircut styles, and can complete the cut in 10 minutes. Even if the customer requests a cut “off the menu” that takes a little longer, “it will still be a quick, no-fuss, and satisfying experience,” says Gabas.
First established in 2004 at Plaza Setiabudi One, South Jakarta, Kaizen has expanded across Indonesia with 75 branches in Jakarta, Tangerang, Bekasi, Cirebon, Cibubur, Karawang, Bandung, Bali, Batam, and Surabaya. Brought to the Philippines by Techno Holdings Corporation, Kaizen is poised to open more branches soon.
Techno Holdings Corporation distributes some of the world’s best-known commercial kitchen and laundry equipment, irrigation systems, precision mowing equipment, golf carts and other utility vehicles; gym and fitness equipment; and premium lighting systems. The company also recently opened Karada Japanese Body Therapy Center, Oracle Korean Beauty and Aesthetic Clinic.
