- – Sheila Crisostomo

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III on Friday reminded private sector employers to observe the applicable pay rules for Eid’l Fitr, a regular holiday.

Pursuant to Proclamation No. 235 issued by President Duterte, Bello issued Labor Advisory No. 8, Series of 2017, which prescribes the pay rules for tomorrow’s holiday.

Based on the advisory, if the employees did not work during the holiday, they shall be paid 100 percent of their salary for that day.

For work done during the regular holiday, the employees shall be paid 200 percent of their regular salary for that day for the first eight hours.

For work done in excess of eight hours (overtime work), they shall be paid an additional 30 percent of their hourly rate.

If their rest day falls on the regular holiday and they were required to work, they shall be paid an additional 30 percent of their daily rate of 200 percent.

For work done in excess of eight hours or overtime work during a regular holiday that also falls on the workers’ rest day, they shall be paid an additional 30 percent of their hourly rate.
