BATANGAS CITY – F2 Logistics hammered Sta. Lucia from the service box before unleashing a strong finishing kick to seal a 25-18, 25-16, 18-25, 25-10 victory in the Philippine Superliga (PSL) All-Filipino Conference last night at the Batangas City Coliseum here.

Majoy Baron came up with a dominant performance for the Cargo Movers, who stretched their winning streak to four.

With the win, F2 Logistics shut down its campaign in the preliminaries on top of Pool D with a 4-2 mark to enter the quarterfinals.

Foton was still battling Petron as of press time to formalize its claim of the top spot in Pool C and the right to face either Cherrylume or Cocolife in the quarterfinals.

The Iron Lady Warriors and the Asset Managers will figure on the final day of preliminaries on Tuesday at the Baliwag Star Arena in Baliwag, Bulacan.

Baron, the reigning UAAP Most Valuable Player for De La Salle, had a fantastic allaround performance with 12 kills, three blocks and seven aces for a game-high 22 points while Kim Dy had 12 markers for F2 Logistics, which slowed down in the third set before going for the kill in the fourth.

But F2 Logistics coach Ramil de Jesus wasn’t completely happy, especially in the third set where they surrendered to the strong net defense of the Lady Realtors.

“I told them that it seems that we never learned our lesson in our first few games,” said De Jesus, who dropped their first two matches to powerhouse Cignal and Petron.

“Kapag nakakakuha kasi ng first two sets, medyo nagre-relax na sila at nawawala ang respeto sa kalaban. Ayaw na nilang mag-isip at dumepensa. Sabi ko hindi tayo mananalo kung maghihintay lang tayo ng errors ng kalaban. Kailangan irespeto natin sila.”

The Cargo Movers were leading by two, 4-2, early in the fourth set before Baron unloaded a series of bombs from the service box to rip the game wide open, 15-4 edge.
