BIR assists in Marawi

The Bureau of Internal Revenue has opened a satellite office for its Marawi operations in Iligan City, almost a month after the crisis situation began.

In a newsletter, the BIR said Cagayan de Oro regional director Hermeno Palamine spearheade­d the opening of the Marawi City satellite office.

The satellite office is located inside the premises of RD 102Iligan City.

Regional legal division chief Dondanon Galera and regional district officer Amanoding Esmail also toook part in the ceremonial opening of the new office last June 19.

The BIR has also done its share of reaching out to affected individual­s of the Marawi clash by conducting relief operations.

BIR Makati City revenue region recently held a relief operation in Marawi City in response to the ongoing battle between the Philippine military and the Maute group.

Among the items distribute­d to affected and displaced families include 1,000 bucketsful­l of halal foods, hygiene products, clothing, household items and various medicines and vitamins.

According to the BIR, employees from its Marawi City office also distribute­d cash to around 200 recipients at the Evacuation Informatio­n Center of Lima Datu ko Pamagsopa sa Marawi.
