Hot star draws academic inspiration

-

It’s back to school for kids. Many of them, including their parents, can seek inspiration from today’s hottest stars in bidding for academic excellence.

Benjamin Alves is one such star that is both an Adonis on the outside, and a brainy guy on the inside. He graduated summa cum laude in English Literature from the University of Guam. As an ambassador of the GMA Network Excellence Awards, he was handpicked to discover more of the Filipino youth’s exemplary performance in academics and leadership.

Aside from getting inspiration from celebrities, parents will also get encouraged to send their kids to school with good news about more affordable backto-school items. Recently, even electricity rates have been going down, which could mean additional pesos for school expenses.

A whiff of fresh air came from Joe Zaldarriaga, the mestizo spokesperson of Meralco, who announced the good news about the electricity rate drop of P1.43 per kilowatt-hour. This announcement, he said, was made at a very opportune time when the Meralco Advisory celebrates its fourth year of airing.

Aside from the 1-4-3 digits, which for us Filipinos mean “I Love You,” it was an all-time high rate reduction, according to Joe and his co-anchor, Maita David. This is made possible by the reported Meralco refund to customers and the lower cost of producing power.
