28 nabbed in 3 Makati drug dens

Twenty-eight people were arrested when anti-narcotics operatives raided three suspected drug dens in Makati City on Thursday, the Philippine Drug Enforcemen­t Agency (PDEA) said yesterday.

PDEA director general Isidro Lapeña said three houses doubling as drug dens were raided at around 10:30 p.m. in Barangay Guadalupe Viejo.

The houses were owned by Maria Capa, Bonifacio Consuela and Arvin Padilla, reportedly members of the Padilla drug ring operating in Makati. They were not present during the raid but have been charged with various offenses under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehens­ive Dangerous Drugs Act.

PDEA agents and members of the local police took into custody 25 men and three women, suspected to be customers, who were found at the three drug dens.

At least 75 grams of shabu with a street value of P375,000 and drug parapherna­lia were confiscate­d from Evelyn Gamata, Patricio Pabuaya, Ronnie Saing, Jo-Ann delos Santos, Amador Romasanta, Teofilo Ramos, Eric Lumagdas, Tomas Moraleda, Dominador Alcantara, Francis de Asis, Ronald Cabus, Pablito delos Santos, Jr., Josel Pigar, Oscar Magusara, Freddie Fernandez, Joselito Aquino, Alfredo Queroben Jr., Jhon Michael Pepito, Henry Dumaiel, Florito Patriao Jr., Jane Saing, Michael Cortez, Henry Pasak, Jose Roen Pepito and Glicerio Bobier.

Those arrested were charged with visiting a drug den and use of dangerous drugs.

13 others arrested

Thirteen drug suspects were arrested in separate police operations in Quezon City and Pasig since Friday.

In Quezon City, four were caught in a drug session in Barangay Talipapa and one in a sting in Barangay Sta. Lucia.

The sixth was a motorcycle rider flagged down for not wearing a helmet but was later found carrying a sachet of shabu.

In Pasig, seven persons were arrested for illegal drugs during a One Time, Big Time operation before dawn yesterday.

They were among 126 people, including a 16-year-old boy, arrested for various offenses.

The boy was arrested for walking along Magsaysay street at around 2:30 a.m. with a .38 caliber revolver, loaded with five bullets, tucked into the waistband of his pants.

Sixty-four persons were apprehende­d for walking in public half-naked; 21 for smoking cigarettes in public; 14 for illegal gambling; 16 for drinking in public; and three for being subjects of arrest warrants.
