Muntinlupa hosts Luzon leg of Int’l Youth Day 2017
The National Youth Commission (NYC), in partnership with the city government of Muntinlupa, celebrated International Youth Day: Love, Peace, and Music 2017 Luzon Leg at Ayala Malls–South Park, Alabang last Aug. 12.
Mayor Jaime Fresnedi graced the event and extended his support in forwarding programs and services that will champion the youth in Muntinlupa.
The local exec also thanked the NYC for choosing Muntinlupa to be the host for IYD 2017 Luzon Leg with the theme “Youth Building Peace” and vowed to continue partnership with the youth commission.
NYC Commissioner-atLarge Asec. Paul Anthony Pangilinan, head of NYC Committee on Global Mobility, encouraged the youth participants that they have a role to play in the fulfillment of this year’s IYD goal.
“You are the torch bearers of peace and hope of our nation,” Pangilinan said.
NYC Luzon Commissioner Perci Cendaña also attended the event and discussed that peace is a youth development agenda in the context of the Philippine Youth Development Plan.
Through video messages, NYC Chairman and CEO Usec. Cariza Seguerra and UN Youth Envoy Jayathma Wickramanayake greeted the youth participants and delivered their keynote messages.
Other officials attending the IYD 2017 in Muntinlupa were Rep. Ruffy Biazon, PIA-NCR Regional Director Riza Baldoria, and Dangerous Drugs Board Chairman Dionisio Santiago.
