The women of Asian Artists Agency

-

It is not International Women’s Day but it is women power at Asian Artists Agency.

The combined presence of Ai-Ai delas Alas, Bianca Gonzalez, Aiko Melendez, Amy Perez, Gelli de Belen, Mariel Rodriguez Padilla, Sitti and Dawn Zulueta spells power.

These women have different backgrounds, undertakings and aspirations but they all occupy a definitive place in the showbiz planet.

They might be dissimilar but they are also similar in some ways. Common among them is the dedication to their craft. They share the same passion and commitment to being professional artists. They are disciplined. They are successful. And they share one management roof: The Asian Artists Agency.

Ai-Ai is steadfast in her being the Comedy Queen. She has expanded her reach, moving towards serious acting and has been awarded with the Best Actress trophy at the ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA) and at the New York’s Queens World Film Festival in March, both for the movie Area.

Dawn has devoted herself to perfecting her acting. She is the only actress who has won both the FAMAS Best Actress for Hihintayin Kita

Sa Langit and Best Supporting Actress for Una Kang Naging

Akin in one single ceremony and in the same year. She has also been honored with the Best Actress trophy at the Metro Manila Filmfest and several nominations from Urian.

Forthcoming is a family-oriented movie with Vic Sotto for MMFF.

Aiko is the vile and scathing Emilia who makes hell the life of Maja Salvador’s Lily on ABS-CBN’s Wildflower. On TV as in the movies, Aiko’s acting talent has not gone unnoticed. She was honored with the Best Actress award at the International Film Festival Manhattan 2015 for her performance in the movie Asintado and another Best Actress award at the London International Filmmaker Festival of World Cinema for the same.

Amy is everybody’s Tyang Amy. For several years, she had conflicting families, warring neighbors, quarreling husbands and wives come Face to Face. She was the mediator who tried to pacify the wounded pride, the rejected, the losers, the aggrieved and the poor. She acted as the judge, psychologist, mother confessor, principal and barangay kapitana who settled

fights between two parties.

Being a pacifist is not all there is to Amy. She has acted in movies and on TV, hosted musical TV shows, radio shows and continues to host the variety noontime It’s Showtime. Amy is also heavily involved in Women of Faith, an organization that seeks to inspire people through prayer and thematic events.

Sitti reigns supreme in the bossa nova genre. While she has introduced electronic dance music to some of her songs, Sitti remains true to her bossa nova core.

Back at the forefront of TV drama is Gelli who is Betty Torralba, the aunt of Tristan Torralba (played by Daniel Padilla) in La Luna Sangre. The show comes after Magpahanggang Wakas, where Gelli played the scheming Jenna Celis Lozado, who wrought havoc to the characters in the series.

Gelli always delivers a remarkable performance. She is an award-winning actress with Gawad Urian Best Actress trophy for her portrayal of Sara Jane, the first known Filipino Aids victim.

While Mariel relishes her role as a new mother, her stints as a host in Pinoy Big

Brother, Wowowee are never forgotten. She once appeared in Rouge, an MTV-produced series in Singapore.

Mariel is getting back in shape as she prepares for her TV hosting comeback. She is an advocate for organic products and calls herself “organic-holic.”

Bianca is a highly-prized endorser and has clout as a social media influencer and advocate. She is the face of Globe Telecom, Samsung Digital Appliances and Samsung TV (with husband JC Intal and their daughter Lucia), EQ Diaper and Johnson & Johnson (both with Lucia) and Glade. Bianca hosts Cinema News on Cinema One and the lifestyle show

Modern Living on ANC, which is starting its eighth season in September.

These women have pronounced impacts to their publics. They are a force to reckon with. They shine and they make it known. They understand women power.
