- Editor: DOREEN G. YU

Want to know how those towering limestone cliffs at El Nido were formed? Or what it feels like to swim with giant jackfish? These and many more can be enjoyed by visitors at El Nido Resorts in Northern Palawan.

Local travelers, particularly families, can avail of special rates offered to Philippine residents during the Philippine Travel Mart to be held from Sept. 1 to 3 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. Among the most awaited packages at this popular travel event are those offered by El Nido Resorts which are sure to “amaze even the most jaded traveler as over 800 species of marine fish and 400 species of corals” can be seen in surrounding areas, according to a recent guest.

Joey Bernardino, El Nido Resorts group director of sales and marketing, confirms that the consistently high guest satisfaction ratings are mostly the work of a team “trained not only to assist our clients but also to make them appreciate the unique habitat and topography of Bacuit Bay and its surroundings.”

Three of the four island resorts are located in El Nido while the fourth one is in the neighboring municipality of Taytay, all in Palawan, named by travel magazine Travel and Leisure as “the best island in the world” in 2017.

Through the guides who take courses in different aspects of geography, geology and biodiversity, El Nido Resorts has evolved to become an effective educational destination, particularly to environment warriors. “Our tours to iconic spots like the Big and Small Lagoons broaden the horizons of our visitors and raise their aspirations to see Bacuit Bay remain a sustainable place to visit for generations to come,” says Javi Hernandez, president of El Nido Resorts. Families get great value in the packages up for grabs at the Travel Mart by the resorts’ Miniloc and Lagen islands, as well as the high-end Pangulasian Island Resort, included in Conde Naste Traveler’s Gold List of Favorite Beach Resorts. Since El Nido Resorts was founded in the 1980s, its appeal has always been tied to its natural attractions. With the rise of ecotourism and travelers preferring places that have retained their natural features, El Nido Resorts today is experiencing heightened interest, particularly from high-end global tourists.
