HOROSCOPE

- By HOLIDAY MATHIS (August 28 Monday)

Lunar Shift Peels Back the Mask Trying to make something work is more frustrating when you’re under the impression that others are doing this with no problem. Well, they aren’t – not all of them. Most put on a good face. You might be surprised what’s underneath. The lunar change from Scorpio will peel back a few masks. However you feel, you’re not alone in it.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). On a gut level, you know the investments of energy, time or money that are right for you. Honor you limits and also your instincts toward outrageous generosity.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Stop struggling. No one will gain from extraneous effort. There’s someone close with the power to help or maybe even make the whole dilemma go away. Reach out.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). The pressure is off – except for, of course, the pressure you’re putting on yourself, which is more or less a constant. Is this really necessary? Ease up a little and then, if you feel OK about that, maybe a little more.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). Your instincts are honed. Believe it. You’ll automatically make the right risk to save what’s important. With that knowledge, you can go about your day worry-free.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Success is linked to your creativity. Before you make any actual efforts, put your imagination to the task. Daydream your way into solutions. Think of 10 different ways you might solve the problem.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Are you in love with a person or with the story you have created about the person? Certainly, your projections affect the situation. Love and objectivity don’t mix. The deeper the love the lesser the objectivity.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). You’re not proud of every single thing you’ve done, but that’s part of being human. Mistakes can’t be helped. Anyway, doing nothing wrong is a mistake, too – the mistake of being boring and scared to grow.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). Someone who is truly on your wavelength – well, it’s a pretty rare find. Don’t let that stop you from reaching out, though. Finish your thoughts before communicating them. Join the dots. Make it easy for people to understand you.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). It hasn’t been easy to figure out what you really want, because the answer keeps changing. That’s fine. All the more reason not to make a move yet. Wait until you’re more certain.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Thinking energizes you. It doesn’t have to be your own thinking, either; you’ll be energized by what you read, hear and see, as long as there’s a robust thought process behind it.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Not all plans are conscious. When your subconscious plans come together today, the result will be a mixture of surprise and satisfaction. PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). You’re not going to win alone, and neither will the other person. Join forces in a game that’s big enough for two. Become partners in seeking a solution with prizes for all.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (Aug. 28). This solar return brings an exciting new social trajectory. You’ll learn fast and much. The business you get into in November will be helped along by friends. There’s a family addition in 2018 that opens up new horizons for the whole group. Take lots of pictures and records to keep track of this fast-moving year. Taurus and Gemini adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 8, 40, 11, 34 and 18.

ASTROLOGICAL QUESTION: “I know you believe in many magical things, and I was wondering whether you think that unicorns ever really existed? They are my favorite animal. I’m a Taurus, but I just can’t get into claiming the cow as my favorite animal.”

Though unicorns are today widely believed to be mythological creatures, they have been referred to in ancient texts as common animals – no more special than dogs, horses or cows, which is part of the reason that many people believe that unicorns once actually existed and have since become extinct. There is an animal mentioned in the Bible whose Hebrew name is reem, which translates into “unicorn,” although it has also been translated into English as “wild bull.” Some scholars believe that the biblical unicorn was actually a onehorned ox, not a horse at all. This theory’s supported by Cro-Magnon cave drawings of a one-horned ox. You are right; I am one who tends to go with the magical theories. That’s why I side with those who say that unicorns exist in some remote region of the world and can be found only by someone with exceptional honesty and virtue – both qualities generally attributed to Taurus.
