GrabExpress driver held for P.4-M cocaine

- By NON ALQUITRAN

A GrabExpress driver was arrested after he allegedly delivered 28 grams of cocaine, with a street value of P400,000, to a policeman who posed as a buyer in Pasig City on Monday.

Edison Hernandez, 24, was apprehended in a bar at Metrowalk in Barangay Ugong at around 2:45 a.m., a day after one of his customers was arrested.

Hernandez refused to name his supplier, but claimed that he earns an extra P1,000 for each delivery, which he does to make ends meet, said Chief Superintendent Romulo Sapitula, Eastern Police District director.

Hernandez’s arrest came after Meynard Ang, an information technology support employee, and Arthur Arong were arrested for fighting in a bar at Metrowalk at around 2 p.m. Sunday.

Police officers seized at least eight grams of cocaine from Ang, who claimed that a certain “Matthew” was his source of illegal drugs, Sapitula said.

Anti-narcotics operatives told Ang to order cocaine from Mathew and Hernandez showed up to deliver the goods, Sapitula said.

Ang claimed he had been peddling cocaine at Metrowalk since 2014 and sells at least 60 grams per week for P7,000 to P10,000 per gram, Sapitula said.

Ang and Hernandez, who were detained at the EPD jail, were charged with drug pushing before the Pasig prosecutor’s office yesterday.
