Hino supports Marikina Watershed restoration

-

HINO Motors Philippines (HMP), the exclusive distributor of Hino trucks and buses in the Philippines, reaffirms its commitment to environmental sustainability through a tree-planting activity held last July 15 in partnership with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP).

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), HMP supports the Marikina Watershed Project to restore the water reservoir damaged by typhoon Ondoy in 2014. Almost 50 HMP volunteer-employees planted 1,250 agroforestry tree seedlings in the Marikina Watershed, Antipolo City.

“Planting of tree seedlings is one of the best ways to prevent immense flooding brought about by strong typhoons. Our commitment to this project is aligned with our corporate mission to make the world a better place to live in by helping people and goods get where they need to go safely, economically and with environmental sustainability,” said HMP HR Manager Adelia Grimalt.

The activity is also a means of empowering local communities in Barangay Calawis, Antipolo City that were also affected by typhoon Ondoy. In addition, this is HMP’s way of helping households and industries across Metro Manila as the Marikina Watershed is a major source of groundwater reserves for the region.

HMP conducts various activities as part of its annual CSR program. These include medical missions, Brigada Eskwela and bloodletting projects.
