Deadline for UPCAT applications extended
The University of the Philippines has extended the deadline for the submission of application requirements for the UP College Admission Test (UPCAT) in October.
“UPCAT applications will be accepted until Sept. 22. Applications submitted after the said date will incur a penalty fee of P150,” the university said in a statement.
The deadline for UPCAT applications was initially set on Aug. 17, but it was moved to Sept. 1.
UP said applications would still be accepted at the university’s campuses in Diliman, Baguio, Cebu, Iloilo, Los Baños, Pampanga, Mindanao and Tacloban.
The UPCAT exams will be held on Oct. 21 and 22 at various testing centers across the country.
The university returned to the two-day exam schedule to accommodate the expected increase of freshman students in 2018, with the graduation of the first batch of Grade 12 students this school year.
Considered as the most competitive college entrance test in the country, UPCAT and the entire admission process of the university is undergoing review to level the playing field among applicants.
“While admission into the UP system is selective with an acceptance rate of 15 to 17 percent for freshmen, UP also takes affirmative steps in its admission process to enhance the access of disadvantaged students to high quality education,” said UP.
