UAAP Jrs. volley to be played at Filoil

University Athletics Associatio­n of the Philippine­s juniors volleyball games this upcoming season will now be held at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan following a partnershi­p between PVL organizer Sports Vision and UAAP sub-host National University.

The tie-up, which will give the high school tournament a new home after being previously staged at the Adamson University gym in the past three years, hopes to promote the developmen­t of the young spikers through better playing conditions.

Games start on Saturday for the girls’ side, with University of Santo Tomas taking on University of the Philippine­s at 12 p.m. and Adamson University colliding with University of the East at 2 p.m.

Ateneo de Manila University faces off with AdU at 10 a.m., UE clashes with National University at 12 a.m., De La Salle Zobel tangles with UP at 2 p.m. while Far Eastern University mixes it up with UST at the 4 p.m. mainer on Sunday to kick off hostilitie­s in the boys’ division.

“They (Sports Vision) want to give young and promising players of Philippine volleyball a venue where they can perform at their very best,” said NU athletic director Chito Loyzaga.

“We want to develop great volleyball players. To develop great players, we have to give them a good venue,” added Sports Vision chairman Moying Martelino.

Girls volleyball matches are set on Mondays, Saturdays and Sundays while the boys’ division will be played on Wednesdays and Sundays, sharing a schedule with the PVL which has games set on the same days but at different schedule.
