SKAL awards top tourism advancement contributors
The SKAL International Makati is celebrating its 36th founding anniversary in conjunction with their 27th SKAL International Tourism Personality Awards on Sept 7, 6 p.m. at the New World Hotel Makati ballroom.
This annual prestigious awards are given to individuals for their significant support and contributions to the development and promotions of tourism in the country as Asia’s best tourist destination, SKAL chair Robert Lim Joseph said.
Fourteen tourism leaders will receive the awards led by Tourism Secretary Wanda Tulfo-Teo and former Ilocos Sur Gov. and businessman Luis “Chavit” Singson for staging the successful Ms. Universe 2016 pageant participated by candidates from 82 countries, SKAL president and PAL president/COO Jaime Bautista announced.
Other awardees are: Bruce Winston of Marriott for First Integrated Hotel/Resort/ Gaming/Events category; Bonifacio Sam, president of PAL Express for Airline category; Henry Chusuey of Henann Resort Group for Resort Hotel category; Ricardo Tan of Campuestuhan Highland Resort for Resort and Theme Park category;
Laurenti Dyogi of ABS CBN for Broadcast Media category; Deedee Siytangco of Manila Bulletin for Hall of Fame in journalism; Bum Tenorio of Philippine STAR for Broadsheet Lifestyle, Travel and Tourism category; Cookie Bartolome for Family Entertainment category of ABS CBN Project Lead theme attraction, president and CEO of Play Innovation and governor of Kidzania;
Jing Lagandaon for MICE (Meeting, Incentives, Conventions, Events/Exhibitions) category; Gregor Zajc of Blue Horizon for Inbound Travel category; Jayson Yang of Travel Warehouse for Outbound Travel category and Gina Montes of Negros for Academe category.
Bautista said this year’s event is made possible by partners Philippine Airlines, New World Hotel Makati, Department of Tourism, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., Tourism Infrastructure and Economic Zone Authority, Tourism Promotions Board, Rotary Club of Manila, Philippine Wine Merchants, Ralph’s Wines and Spirits, Columbia Transport Inc. and Wine Museum Hotel and Resto.
