- By LOUELLA DESIDERIO

PLDT Inc. has further expanded the reach of fiber-to-thehome (FTTH) facilities by making available high-speed broadband services in residential areas of Cavite.

“As the country’s first-ever Fibr-powered Smart province, Cavite’s residents and businesses now have access to PLDT’s robust, reliable internet and leading digital services to strengthen their connections at home and at work,” Oscar Reyes Jr., PLDT first vice president and head of consumer business for market development said.

The residential areas covered by PLDT’s FTTH rollout are Citihomes (Bacoor), Sea Breeze Subdivision (Cavite City), Legian Subdivision (Imus), Avida Residences (Dasmariñas), Boston Heights (Kawit), Poblacion/Town Proper (Alfonso, Amadeo, Magallanes, Maragondon, Mendez, and Ternate), Ponderosa Leisure Farms (Silang), Alta Monte Subdivision (Tagaytay), and Lancaster Estate (General Trias).

Reyes said the PLDT FTTH service would allow residents of Cavite to enjoy up to 1 Gbps of symmetrical internet speeds or equal download and upload speeds.

Through the service, subscribers could also access entertainment content from PLDT Home’s Roku PoweredTM TVolution Box which offers over 100 streaming channels including Cignal TV, Netflix, iflix and YouTube.

Subscribers could also use other PLDT Smart Home services such as the home monitoring system Fam Cam, the cyber security platform Fam Zone, and the multifunctional kiddie gadget Smart Watch.

“PLDT’s efforts to create more FibrPowered Smart Cities and Smart Provinces all over the country are part of our commitment to enrich the lives of more Filipinos, as well as to create world-class, meaningful digital experiences for the entire family’s entertainment, convenience, and security,” Reyes said.

PLDT’s FTTH deployment in Cavite is in line with the company’s program to expand fiber coverage in the country.

The company wants to have four million homes covered by the FTTH service by the end of this year. As of end-June, PLDT’s FTTH coverage reached 3.3 million homes.

PLDT is also investing in hybrid fiber technologies such as Huawei’s G. fast which can boost data speeds up to 600 to 700 Mbps over copper lines.
