LP denies destabilization plot

- KURT ADRIAN DELA PEÑA – With Perseus Echeminada

The Liberal Party (LP) slammed yesterday the circulation of information that the party is allegedly involved in a plot to destabilize the Duterte administation.

In the statement, LP said the motive in crafting the story is to divert the attention of the public from the current controversy faced by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) where members of the Duterte family were allegedly involved in irregularities in the bureau.

“Whoever crafted this ridicu- lous story is desperately trying to divert public and media’s attention from the P6.5-billion shabu smuggling controversy involving the Davao group,” LP said in the statement.

“The so-called LP ouster plot against the President is another patently preposterous tale being weaved against the political opposition,” the LP added.

The party asked those circulating the fabricated information to stop diverting the attention of the public. “Huwag nilang ilihis ang usapin,” they said.

According to the party, the paramount issue at hand is the allegation that the Davao group allowed the entry of billions of pesos worth of illegal drugs in coordination with some BOC officials and drug syndicates despite the administration’s so-called war on drugs.

The LP believes that everyone needs to know the truth because it will identify the realness or falseness of the administration’s war on drugs.

“We need to know the truth because if the allegations are true, then what we have is a phony or fake war on drugs,” the party said.
