6 slain in shootings; 11 drug suspects held

Six persons were killed in separate shootings in southern Metro Manila while 11 drug suspects were arrested in Quezon City in the past two days.

In Makati, three men were shot dead by unidentifi­ed assailants on motorcycle­s along Sunrise street in Barangay La Paz yesterday.

Police identified the fatalities as 32-year-old parking attendant Reynante Gutierrez; Noriesl Camposano, a constructi­on worker, and jeepney driver Robert Tusoa.

In Muntinlupa, Emmanuel Reyes, 61, and Rhea Cagas, 40, died after an unidentifi­ed man broke into their house in Barangay Bayanan and opened fire on Monday night.

Reyes and Cagas died at the scene from multiple gunshots to the body.

In Taguig, a man known only as Akaramungk­at was gunned down in front of his house in Barangay Napindan.

Witnesses said two men on a motorcycle fled after the attack.

Probers said they have yet to establish if the killings were related to illegal drugs.

Drug stings

Meanwhile, in Quezon City, 11 drug suspects were apprehende­d in separate anti-narcotics operations yesterday.

Chief Superinten­dent Guillermo Eleazar, director of the Quezon City Police District, said seven of the suspects were caught in drug stings.

Albert Macaraig, 29, was nabbed after he allegedly sold shabu to a police officer who posed as a buyer at around 2:30 a.m. in Barangay Masambong.

Macaraig allegedly yielded packs of shabu and the marked money.

Four more drug suspects – Ruth Asencio, 55; Julius Borja, 36; Abegail Romero, and Jaymon Pacino, 19 – were apprehende­d in Barangay Pinyahan on Monday night.

Police said they recovered five sachets of shabu from the suspects.

Another drug bust in Barangay Immaculate Conception resulted in the arrest of Jonathan Lopez, 23, of Barangay Pinagkaisa­han.

Two sachets of shabu were allegedly found in Lopez’s possession.

In Barangay Apolonio Samson, Noel Macam, 30, was arrested for allegedly selling shabu to a policeman who posed as a buyer.

Police said they recovered from Macam four sachets of shabu, a 9mm pistol, drug parapherna­lia and a motorcycle.

Three more drug suspects were arrested during an anti-crime operation in Barangay Bahay Toro.

They were Romar Matriano, 22; Junmar Abao, 34, and Noel Villaflor, 36.

Police said the suspects were accosted for drinking in public. When frisked by policemen, the three allegedly yielded sachets of shabu.

In Barangay Immaculate Conception, Alvin Astor, 26, was accosted by police for urinating in public.

Authoritie­s said they recovered a sachet of shabu from Astor.

The suspects are being held by police on charges of violating Republic Act 9165, the Comprehens­ive Dangerous Drugs Act. –
