Gigi Reyes gets pass for dental checkup

The Sandiganbayan has granted former senator Juan Ponce Enrile’s former chief of staff, Jessica “Gigi” Reyes, a three-hour pass to undergo dental procedures in two clinics in Taguig.

The anti-graft court’s Third Division allowed Reyes to leave her detention cell at Camp Bagong Diwa from 9 a.m. to 12 noon tomorrow.

Reyes is on trial for plunder and graft over her alleged involvement in the pork barrel scam.

She will undergo tooth extraction at the Center for Advanced Dentistry located at the Infinity Tower along 26th street in Bonifacio Global City.

The court also allowed her to go to a dermatology and dentistry clinic at Forbes Wood Height, Rizal Drive for a panoramic dental X-ray.

Magistrates of the Sandiganbayan ordered the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology to double the number of security personnel for Reyes during the furlough.

Associate Justice Sarah Jane Fernandez, who penned the decision, said it was proven that Camp Bagong Diwa lacks the equipment needed for the dental procedures.

Presiding Justice Amparo Cabotaje-Tang and Associate Justice Bernelito Fernandez concurred with the ruling.

The Sandiganbayan has denied Reyes’ petition for bail.

She is accused of conniving with Enrile in misappropriating his Priority Development Assistance Fund allocations when he was senator.

Enrile was granted bail by the Supreme Court for humanitarian reasons, considering his age and medical condition.
