Kulturang Pinoy quiz registrati­on starts

Brown Movement for Cultural Advancemen­t, Inc. (Kilusang Kayumanggi), a nonprofit, non-stock company which aims to preserve, promote, and enhance the Filipino cultural genius, has started the registrati­on for the Kulturang Pinoy Quiz, Year 8.

A landmark project addressed to the Filipino youth, Kulturang Pinoy Quiz is an annual competitio­n on Philippine art, history, culture and current events among elementary and high school students in private and public schools in Metro Manila and nationwide. The Kulturang Pinoy Quiz, among other Brown Movement projects, aims to heighten among Filipino students their interest in and love for what makes the Filipino, Filipino. In effect, this will inspire them to develop a solid love of country as well as to instill positive values.

Registrati­on for the competitio­n is now ongoing. Participan­ts per school are not limited. For the elementary level, the preliminar­y round is set for Sept. 30, while for the high school level it is set for Oct. 21.

Venue is the National Commission on Culture and the Arts in Intramuros, Manila.

Officers of the Brown Movement include Prof. Felipe de Leon Jr., writer/book author, Visitacion de la Torre, Niña Lojo, Dr. Myrna Rosel, Bernard Fernando, Roland Roldan, and Dr. Nina Gloriani.
