4 drug suspects, 2 others shot dead

Four suspected drug pushers were killed as the government continued its campaign against illegal drugs in Bulacan and Nueva Ecija on Tuesday. Two other persons were gunned down by unidentifi­ed motorcycle-riding men.

Romnick Dumandan and an alias Onad, both residents of Barangay Bigte, Norzagaray, and Jomar Luban of Bagong Buhay, San Jose del Monte in Bulacan drew their guns when they sensed they had sold shabu to undercover agents in their areas, police said.

Francisco Santiago was killed in a sting in San Roque, Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija.

Guns, sachets of shabu and marked money were reportedly recovered from the fatalities.

Twelve other drug suspects were arrested in San Fernando and Porac, Pampanga; San Jose del Monte, Bulacan and Cabanatuan City on Tuesday.

“High-value” drug targets Maira Akmad and Sherma Ampuan were nabbed in Barangays Rosary Heights and Bagua III, respective­ly, in Cotabato City.

In La Union, anti-narcotics agents destroyed more than 300 grams of shabu and dried marijuana leaves with an estimated street value of P2.8 million in Barangay Carlatan, San Fernando City also on Tuesday.

Tricycle driver Jonathan Piano, 40, alias Dugol, was shot while drinking coffee in front of a store in Barangay Poblacion, Urdaneta, Pangasinan.

Businessma­n Ruben Dimacuha was sitting in front of RD Marketing in Barangay Balagtas, Batangas City when he was shot.

The victim is the uncle of Batangas City Mayor Beverly Mariño and brother of former mayor Eddie Dimacuha.

Police have yet to determine the motives for the killings.
