Obstacle course racing up in Spartan Race

Spartan Race, the world’s largest obstacle race, holds its inaugural staging here on Sept. 16 with competitions in various age categories on tap.

These include the Spartan sprint, an entry-level course suitable for all fitness ranges. The course will span over 5km and 20+ obstacles that will put athlete’s physical and mental endurance and strength to the test.

Other titles to be disputed are Elite with the top three male and female finishers to receive cash prizes, the Competitive designed to bridge the gap between the open and elite categories, and the Open where people of all shapes and sizes dispute top honors.

“Obstacle course racing has been on the rise in the Philippines and we’ve seen huge numbers of Filipinos heading overseas to participate in Spartan Races, so we are definitely anticipating a soldout first race,” said Spartan Race Philippines CEO Guenter Taus. “I’m very thrilled to announce that we are almost ready to open registration.”

Private registration will be extended first to those who pre-registered, followed by a public launch. More information on pricing and venue will be announced shortly on the official Spartan Race Philippines social platforms and website.
