No more casino shows for Mocha — Andanar

- By JESS DIAZ – With Christina Mendez

Presidential Communications Operations Office Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson has decided to stop performing in casinos, her boss Secretary Martin Andanar said yesterday.

Andanar told reporters that Uson has to honor the contracts her group Mocha Girls has signed with certain establishments, but that she promised not to join performances in casinos.

He recalled that when President Duterte appointed the sex guru, she asked if she could be allowed to honor her group’s contractual commitments.

However, Andanar said Uson did not inform him that some of those commitments have to be done in casinos.

He said he has referred her recent performance in a resort-gambling-hotel complex to the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES).

A Malacañang issuance prohibits government officials from entering casinos.

During the Aquino administration, the late Land Transportation Office chief Virginia Torres was criticized after she was shown in a video footage playing the slot machine in a Manila gambling establishment.

“We are forwarding the matter to the OES,” Andanar said when asked if Uson will be placed under preventive suspension.

Presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella said the law is clear that government officials are barred from going to casinos.
