3 dead, 7 hurt in Cagayan mishaps

TUGUEGARAO – Three persons died while seven others were injured in separate vehicular accidents in Cagayan on Saturday.

Johnas Quilang, 22, was driving a motorcycle when he figured in an accident in Barangay Centro, Peñablanca town at around 6 p.m.

Quilang was declared dead on arrival at the Cagayan Valley Medical Center, where his passenger, Jojo Tabuan, 51, was also taken for treatment of injuries.

The two reportedly came from a drinking session, police said.

In Lasam town, a car driven by teacher Rovilyn Taguinod, 22, rolled over after hitting a pile of gravel in Barangay San Pedro.

The car also hit two motorcycle­s, one of which was driven by Councilman Jefrey Peralta, 41, of Barangay Calapangan Sur.

Peralta died after he was pinned under the car.

Taguinod and the passengers of the other motorcycle – Rexico Braga, 34, and his wife Marigin, 41 – were brought to Lasam District Hospital for treatment.

In Iguig town, Joselito Centeno died while his relatives – Jaycel, Jomar and Eddie, all surnamed Centeno – were injured after a truck rear-ended their hand tractor in Barangay Baculud.

Responding police officers arrested truck driver Noel Tagumasi, a constructi­on firm employee.

Meanwhile, in Pangasinan, Rogelio Cantor, 64, died in a hospital after he was hit by a motorcycle in Barangay San Bonifacio, San Manuel town.

Driver Jerry Asuncion, 36, of nearby Barangay Guiset Norte, was taken to the Dr. Laurenano Perez Memorial Clinic for treatment of back injuries after he was thrown off his motorcycle.
