Teacher, 26 others nabbed for drugs

At least 27 suspected drug pushers and users, including a public school teacher, were arrested in Metro Manila on Sunday.

Leo de Luna, 34, a teacher of Batasan National High School, was caught in a drug session with two others at a house in Talanay Area C, Barangay Batasan Hills at past 3 p.m.

Jerrico Caparas, 23, and Jhelmar Franco, 20, were arrested along with De Luna. Seven sachets said to contain shabu were seized from them.

In Barangay Pinyahan, five men and two boys were allegedly caught smoking marijuana along Matapang street at around 5 p.m.

Renzo Barcoma, 19; Marc Angelo Alaba, 22; and Hironobu Ando, 23, were arrested with P12,000 worth of marijuana and two pistols in a sting along Quirino Highway in Barangay Bagbag at around 11 p.m.

Ryan Venus, 39; Jessica Asiniero, 30; and Marlon Joaquin were caught in separate stings.

In Malabon City, Maribel Ramirez, 44; a 17-year-old boy; and Patrocinio Rosales Jr. were arrested for allegedly carrying drugs.

In Valenzuela City, police officers accosted Jessie Isidro, 32; Dexter Castaneda, 19; Mark Vincent Turalpe; John Paul Criz, 21; Clark Villanueva, 18; Arwin Aquino; Edgar Malabanan, 18; and Angelo dela Cruz, 18, for drinking on the sidewalk along De Onion street in Marulas at around 12:45 a.m.

A folded newspaper containing dried marijuana leaves were seized from one of them, police said.

Joshua Alcantara and Rodney Teel Pabon, both 19, were arrested in a sting along M.H. del Pilar street in Barangay Arkong Bato at around 9:30 p.m.

Police officers seized an undetermin­ed amount of marijuana and P5,000 marked money from the suspects.
