Vanguard of Wealth: The 11th Annual PIFA Awards Night

The Philippine Investment Funds Association (PIFA) – the country’s association of mutual fund companies— remains the vanguard in wealth management.

The recent years have seen the Philippines growing at its fastest and with it, abounding opportunities. Resting on solid domestic fundamentals, a consumption-driven economy, low inflation and a demographic sweet spot, it has gained increased attention from the international community, unlocking wealth for more Filipinos.

Against this backdrop, the Philippine Investment Funds Association (PIFA) – the country’s association of mutual fund companies— remains the vanguard in wealth management.

Over the years, PIFA worked with regulators to ensure that the interests of the investing public is served. Moreover, PIFA promotes industry best practices in terms of investment management and fund governance. As a testament to this, PIFA has remained an active member of the Asia Oceania Investment Funds Association (AOIFA), the premiere international association of mutual fund companies in the region.

PIFA aims to foster the growth of the Philippine mutual fund industry by:

1. Contributing to nation building through the effective mobilization of long-term savings by increasing the citizenry’s awareness regarding investments;

2. Protecting the interests of the investing public and make them more knowledgeable about their investment options and risk exposures;

3. Partnering with the government by assisting, coordinating and cooperating with relevant regulatory agencies, led by the Securities and Exchange Commission, and;

4. Fostering the growth of the Philippine mutual fund industry through the institution of the standards of excellence in the operations of Philippine investment companies.

Over past 10 years, the industry has grown at an annual compounded rate of 12.32 percent from P86.06 Bn in Assets Under Management (AUM) in 2007 to P276 Bn as of July 31, 2017. From 40 funds, it has now grown to 58 funds, giving the investing public more options for their portfolio.

This year, PIFA will be holding again its Annual Awards Night, to recognize the funds that have given superior performance. Awards are given for each category: money market funds, fixed income funds, balanced funds and equity funds, both for pesoand dollar-denominated funds. The annual awards night is a tradition that continues to reaffirm PIFA’s commitment to fund management excellence.

As the Philippine market is poised for ever stronger growth, PIFA looks forward to an even greater role in bringing more wealth and financial security to investors.
