UE Alumni to hold bowling tournament
The University of the East Alumni Association Inc. (UEAAI) is holding the first UE Alumni Bowling Tournament Sept. 23 at the AMF-Puyat Coronado Lanes in Starmall-EDSA in Mandaluyong as part of the school’s alumni homecoming and founding anniversary in October.
The UEAAI officers are encouraging all members of the UE community to participate in the tenpin bowlfest which is open to UE faculty, students, employees, and alumni. Other interested groups or guest teams are welcome to join the competition, which is in line with the school’s wellness, physical fitness and sports programs.
Participating teams should be ready for action at the bowling alleys 15 minutes prior to the ceremonial bowl at 10 a.m. Registration is ongoing.
The organizing committee still accepts team entries plus payment of the tournament fee of P3,000 per team until Sept. 22. The fee is inclusive of the shoe rentals and bowlers’ four-game play. Only 24 slots are available on a first come, first-served basis.
Each team will compete with a three-player lineup, either mixed male-and-female, all-male, or all-female bowlers. Under the handicapping system, each player will be assigned handicap points which will be added to the average score earned.
At stake are major prizes for the top three winning teams and special prizes for highest game and highest series for special individual and team.
Entry forms can be obtained at the UE Marketing Dept./UE Alumni Office, GF, former Dentistry Building, Dr. Francisco T. Dalupan Sr. Street (formerly Gastambide), UE Manila. The tournament committee is composed of UE alumni veteran bowlers Rene Chan, Joey Romblon and Ed Arcilla.
Likewise, preparations for the 2017 UE Alumni Reunion of all the UE graduates are underway. With this year’s theme “UE Shining Through,” the annual UE alumni gathering will be held at the Century Park Hotel’s Grand Ballroom on Sept. 30, starting at 6 p.m., said UEAAI president Josie Malanum.
Each reunion ticket is priced at P1,000 only, inclusive of food and raffle prizes. Attire is formal.
