Learn the qualities of good leaders
At First Pacific, a Hong Kong-based publicly listed investment management holding company, a unique twofold leadership exists. While governed by an extensive management team, close friends Manuel V. Pangilinan and Ed Tortorici are dubbed as the company’s “founder” and “enforcer,” respectively.
According to their good friend, Jose Ma. Lim, as interviewed by David Nugent, the two leaders have clearly defined roles: “Manny provides the drive and direction while Ed makes sure your foot stays on the pedal.”
“Our story is really about values. It is about a set of core beliefs Manny and the team were raised on, built our careers by and we hold sacred," Tortorici said.
“In a nutshell: openness, transparency and honesty. It might sound quaint, but when Manny set out to build this company almost 40 years ago, those were truly pioneering concepts,” he said.
Candor, truthfulness, sincerity – people define openness, honesty and transparency in more ways than one. But there is more to good leadership qualities than these traits.
