Alex Calleja’s new book Lakas Tawa

Stand-up comedian and comedy writer Alex “The Master” Calleja (photo), who has helped bring Filipino stand-up comedy to a wider audience, now conquers a new medium with his first ABS-CBN Publishing book venture titled Lakas Tawa.

Alex is now a certified multimedia comedian in the country, having done bar gigs, the stage and television and now, print as he released his compilatio­n of jokes not just from his Lakas Tawa program on the ABSCBN TVplus channel CineMo, but from the entirety of his entertainm­ent career.

The Pinoy comedian, who was runner up at the Laugh Factory’s global search for the Funniest Person in the World said of the book, “It’s handy so it can be brought anywhere. It can make people laugh wherever they are.”

The former IT profession­al said it feels good to see his jokes in a book and is proud to be a published writer. “I’m now in the same league as Jose Rizal, J.K. Rowling and Dan Brown,” he quipped.

Lakas Tawa is the latest addition to ABS-CBN Publishing’s successful line of bestsellin­g consumer books. It was recently launched at Teatrino Promenade in Greenhills during the Funny Fridays show of Comedy Manila, a group of stand-up comedians where Alex belongs to.

He joins an elite roster of ABS-CBN Publishing authors that includes the late Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago, Alex Gonzaga, Georgina Wilson, Solenn Heussaff, Senyora Santibañez, Ramon Bautista, Vice Ganda and Charo Santos-Concio.

Priced at P150, the book is exclusivel­y available in all National Book Store outlets nationwide.

Fans can continue to watch Alex’s comedic genius through his bar shows and by watching Lakas Tawa on CineMo (ABS-CBN TVplus Ch. 3) every day at 10:55 a.m., 4:55 p.m. and 10:55 p.m.
