Sofitel bags top honors at Phl Culinary Cup

Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila took the trophy as over-all champion in the Corporate Division of the Philippine Culinary Cup 2017 held at the SMX Convention Center.

Bringing home a total of 20 medals, the champion team was led by Chinese chef Michael Tai and sous chef Regine Lee under the stewardshi­p of executive chef Nicholas Shadbolt. Armed with more than two months of grueling preparatio­n, the winning team was comprised of 20 culinary artisans from the hotel’s acclaimed restaurant­s including Spiral, Le Bar and Snaps.

The team competed in the technical culinary categories including sous vide (bronze medal), US pork (gold and bronze), US poultry (silver), US beef (silver and bronze), local seafood (bronze), quick fire salad (silver), Divella pasta (silver and bronze), fantasy plated dessert (bronze), plated dessert (bronze), chocolate showpiece (bronze), bread showpiece (bronze), creative breakfast (bronze), dream team (silver) and young chefs (bronze).

With a total medal count of 13 bronze, 6 silver and 1 gold, Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila brought home the championsh­ip trophy, besting other well-known and establishe­d hotels and culinary institutio­ns in the country.

The Philippine Culinary Cup is the most prestigiou­s culinary competitio­n in the Philippine­s aiming to provide Filipino chefs an internatio­nally-recognized platform to hone their skills and showcase their talents in the culinary field.
