Woman loses baby to fake DSWD worker

- By ROBERTZON RAMIREZ

A woman lost one of her twin babies to a fake Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) worker in Las Piñas City on Thursday. Shyane Gianan told The

STAR that her sister-in-law Ariza Gianan and her mother were at the Las Piñas District Hospital for a checkup of Ariza’s twins, Zianne and Zia, when a woman approached them and introduced herself as Nathalie Damaso.

Damaso, who appeared to be in her 40s, claimed she was a social worker and the twins are qualified to be beneficiaries of the DSWD’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), Gianan said.

Damaso gave them P200 to buy food and asked to interview them over a meal at a nearby restaurant at around 3 p.m. while waiting for the babies’ turn at the hospital, she said.

Gianan said Ariza, who was carrying Zia, was in line at the restaurant counter while Zianne was carried by her grandmother, who was standing behind Ariza.

Damaso volunteered to carry Zianne and asked the grandmother to help Ariza in bringing the food to the table.

It was then that the women noticed that Damaso had disappeared, bringing Zianne with her.

Gianan said they have reported the kidnapping to the Las Piñas police and the DSWD, which said Damaso is not a social worker .

She posted a photo of her nieces and an image of Damaso taken from closedcircuit television footage of the restaurant.

She said the public may text or call her at 0918-5663785.

Gianan’s post has gathered more than 15,000 Facebook reactions and was shared more than 84,800 times as of yesterday afternoon.
