8 arrested for drugs

Eight people were apprehende­d in separate antidrug operations in Metro Manila in the past two days.

Four of the suspects were collared in Pasig. They were Joseph Nicolas, Christian Cruz, Julius Amoranto and Gilbert de la Cruz.

Chief Superinten­dent Romulo Sapitula, director of the Eastern Police District, said the suspects were collared in drug stings in Barangays Pinagbuhat­an and Sta. Lucia on Tuesday.

Police said they recovered 15 sachets of shabu from the suspects.

In Valenzuela, antinarcot­ics operatives led by Senior Inspector Jose Hizon nabbed suspected drug pusher Jose Ubas, 56, in a sting along Navarette street in Arkong Bato.

Hizon allegedly yielded six sachets of shabu and the marked money.

Two more drug suspects, Leo Alsate, 27, and Joe Davis Bello, 18, were arrested at the corner of Bernardino and Pama Ugong streets also in Valenzuela.

Chief Inspector Edgardo Nepay said they recovered two sachets of shabu from Alsate and Bello.

In Malabon, Liza Ayop, 40, was nabbed for alleged possession of three sachets of shabu along P. Concepcion street in Barangay Tugatog.

The suspects are being held by police for violating Republic Act 9165, the Comprehens­ive Dangerous Drugs Act.
