Best of Aliw 2017 on Oct. 10

Aliw Awards Foundation, Inc. (AAFI) begins its 40th anniversary celebration with a gathering of top entertainers in a show titled

The Best of Aliw 2017 on Oct. 10 at the Star Theater, CCP Complex, Roxas Blvd. It will be directed by Freddie Santos.

Rico J. Puno, Celeste Legaspi, Freddie Aguilar and past Entertainers of the Year will be joined by Imelda Papin and John Lesaca, Lifetime Achievement awardees; and Hall of Famers Jon Santos, Mitoy Yonting, Spirit of ’67, Angelos and the Halili Dance Company, with the special participation of Merjohn Lagaya.

Members of theater groups, Aliw awardees, will also perform surprise numbers.

Produced by the Aliw Awards Foundation in cooperation with Star Theater, the event is supported by the Department of Tourism, the Quezon City government under Mayor Herbert Bautista, PAGCOR and PCSO.

Other anniversary events, according to founding president Alice Reyes and Executive Committee chairman Ma. Rosa Bing Carrion, are the Annual Aliw Awards Night on Nov. 20; the Walk of Fame at Rizal Park, Nov. 23; and launching of the coffeetable book on AAFI, its history, awardees and benefactors.

Officers and trustees of the AAFI, aside from Reyes, are Sonny Valencia, first VP; Frank Rivera, second VP; Tess Tan, secretary; Francia Conrado, treasurer; Efren Montano and Aristeo Garcia, PROs; Jun Dadulla, auditor; and Dennis Aguilar, Ofelia Cajigal, Njel de Mesa, Joey Nombres, Angelo Eloy Padua and Art Tapalla, trustees. Ex-officio member of the board is past president Rema Manzano.
