Davao, San Fernando cities suspend classes for transport strike

Classes in all levels will be suspended in Davao City and San Fernando, Pampanga during the transport strike on Monday.

“We fully respect the transport strike in Davao City. Let us take this opportunity to observe the streets with fewer jeepneys and more buses as envisioned in the high-priority bus system project for Dabawenyos,” Mayor Sara DuterteCarpio said in a statement.

Carpio said the city government would deploy buses to ferry stranded commuters.

She appealed to protesters to practice self-restraint, saying crimes committed during the strike would not be tolerated.
