JEWELS FOR THE HOME

- ooh la lai LAI S. REYES

How does one fulfill his home furnishing dreams?

Visit Caracole, the fastest-growing furniture brand in the US, which recently opened its flagship store at Greenbelt 5 in Makati City.

Exclusively distributed by Dexterton Corporation, Caracole creates lifestyle furniture pieces that allow you to create your own unique environment while having fun.

At Caracole, there’s the Off the Wall section — a wall decked with picture cards featuring each of the Caracole piece.

“At the back of the card, you’ll find a bar code. Scan it using your mobile phone and it will direct you to Caracole’s website where you can find all the information you want to know about that particular furniture piece you fancy,” explained Luiza Fogaca, Asian brand ambassador, Caracole, who flew in from the US just for the launch.

Through the Off the Wall, it’s easier for Caracole clients to visualize the kind of furniture they want for their homes or condo units.

“We want you to have fun with our brand. Express your personality through our various furniture pieces. Mix and match. Make your own unique environment with Caracole,” added Luiza.

Dexterton, the exclusively distributor of Caracole, has been partners with Caracole since its inception in 2009.

“Back then, Caracole just started operations in the US. We were one of their first export clients. After nine years of positive feedback from our clients, we’re proud to welcome you to Caracole’s flagship store,” enthused Dexter Go, vice president, Dexterton. So what’s the signature style of Caracole? “It’s hard to define it because our different portfolios such as Caracole Classic, Caracole Modern and Caracole Signature allow us to talk to a different set of consumers from a broad range of age, income and geographic locations. But one thing’s for sure, there’s definitely a Caracole piece designed for you,” Luiza explained.

The new showroom houses the brand’s main streamline Caracole Classic and Caracole Modern collections, which feature a wide variety of items specifically designed to suit any home and lifestyle.

Caracole Classic is all about creativity, expression and whimsy, right down to its unique product names.

Pieces come in more than 80 finishes and include unique materials such as silver and gold, leaf, bone, Italian mirror, acrylics and more.

There’s the Turn the New Leaf buffet cabinet. Made of Koto wood, it’s decorated with champagne-colored leaves in front that was inspired by a Japanese wallpaper. The neutral color sparkles, thanks to the shimmer on the silk screen finish. “The custom hardware is all made of crystal,” noted Luiza. Behind Caracole designs are outlines of different cultures, lifestyles and travel scenes around the world.

“Caracole’s talented and hardworking design team gets inspiration everywhere. These inspirations then turn into ideas, which are refined by Caracole designers and engineers,” added Luiza.

Stunning in every angle, the Lattice Entertain You Sofa set features an exposed wood frame and an open Moroccan-inspired fretwork (lattice) design on each arm panel.

Caracole Modern, on the other hand, is designed for the young executive who is always on the go. It features well-crafted pieces that incorporate functionality and modern style. Most of the pieces are multi-functional and are scaled for today’s small-space dwellings.

“These pieces are considered jewels for the home,” noted Assel Tursynbekova, Asian brand manager, Caracole.

The showroom will also soon be carrying the bespoke Caracole Signature collection with every piece boasting regal style crafted from elegant materials and highly-polished finishes.

Luiza and Assel gave us a tour of the showroom and introduced to us some of the brand’s classics and bestsellers. They also led us into exploring the unique details and features of some of the signature items.

“Our Sociable and Socialite cocktail tables have the Caracole DNA and have been in line since the beginning of the brand in 2009,” Assel said. The pattern has become so popular that it became Caracole’s signature pattern.

As far as upholstery, the Ice Breaker lounge chair is one of Caracole’s bestsellers. Available in dark grey fabric and a three-seater sofa shape.

“Unlike other furniture brands on the market, Caracole offers a lifetime warranty for its upholstery frames,” added Luiza.

By definition, the world “caracole” means changing direction.

“To us, Caracole means a ‘beautiful turn in a new direction’ — an inspired adventure that takes designs to a whole new level,” described Luiza.
