Celebrity moms unite against SIDS
October is SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) Awareness Month. SIDS is a sudden, unexpected death of an otherwise healthy and normal baby, often during sleep. Babies spend up to 16 hours sleeping in their first year. Therefore, it is important for parents to be educated on simple interventions to protect babies from SIDS, suffocation, and sleep-related accidents.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends using a safety-certified wearable blanket instead of loose blankets, because blankets can accidentally cover a baby’s face and interfere with breathing. To avoid any accidents, the crib should have nothing inside except a fitted sheet and only the baby in a wearable blanket. Remove all blankets, pillows, comforters, and toys from the sleep area as these can cause suffocation or carbon dioxide rebreathing, leading to SIDS.
Halo Sleep Sack Philippines (www.halophilippines.com), through its #SafeSleepPH campaign, aims to educate Filipino parents on the importance of safe sleep. Some of the country’s most influential Halo moms with their babies recently gathered to support the campaign.
Halo SleepSack is an award-winning wearable blanket worn over regular sleepwear as a safer alternative to loose blankets. Halo products are backed by 20 years of SIDS and clinical research. It is the only brand that carries the seals of approval from leading SIDS and safety organizations. All this makes Halo the #1 trusted brand by moms and the only brand used in over 1,500 hospitals worldwide.
Halo products are available at www.halophilippines.com, Rustan’s, Mothercare, and selected Baby Company branches. For more information on safe sleep, follow @ halophilippines on Instagram/Facebook.
