Jacq Buncio takles class win in National Supermoto Race of Champions with TOTAL HI-PERF

-

FILIPINOS are truly a talented people. From boxing to ice skating and even motorsports, we’ve made our presence felt in each of these sports/ fields. In racing, we’ve seen the likes of legends like Butch Chase, Jovie Saulog, and the late great Maico Buncio. But while Filipinos have shone on the race track and carved a niche for themselves, the standout athletes have been few and far between. Why? While talent abounds, there have been admittedly very few opportunities to grow and hone the skills of our local riders.

Last May, the National SupermotoROC (Race of Champions) opened its Luzon leg at Robinson’s Novaliches, welcoming both veteran and amateur drivers to prove their mettle on the race track.

Supported by TOTAL Hi-Perf, the National SupermotoROC seeks new talent and aims to achieve what other organized racing events have yet to accomplish — that is to give aspiring racers a stage to showcase their talents through organized racing. Here, contenders can compete against worldrenowned drivers on their home court. Even riders from far-flung areas of the country have the equal chance to compete, and even bring home the crown.

At the recent leg, one such talent stood out—16year-old motorsport prodigy Jacq Buncio. Jacq, the sibling of the late Maico Buncio, brought more honor to the family name and placed in several categories including Champion in the Ladies Category, 2nd place in the Local Enduro Open, and 2nd Place in the Celebrity/VIP Class.

Since early 2013, Jacq had already been making waves, winning a slew of titles, including 5 IR Cup Championships, 1st Runner-Up at the Philippines Scooter Racing 2015, 3rd Place at the Moto IR Championship 2015, and 1st Place at the Backbone Category Championship. Recently, she also nabbed 1st Place in the Heavyweight Category B in Philippine Superbike Championships, winning against 19 other participants with bigger bikes. With her win, she became the only and youngest female rider to race in her group.

“It’s been a thrilling experience taking on these new challenges, and I’m super excited to take on more! I’d like to thank TOTAL Hi-Perf and National SupermotoROC for giving us young talents the opportunity to really shine and hone our skills to become better riders. Soon, I, as well as the others, hope to compete in the international circuit,” shares Jacq, now proudly recognized as the “Fastest Lady on Two Wheels” and the newest ambassador of TOTAL Hi-Perf, the leading line of motorcycle and scooter engine oils by Total.

Like Jacq, you too, can compete with other drivers and test your skills on the racetrack. Sign-up and join the National SupermotoROC as it heads to Dumaguete this June and Cagayan de Oro in July.
