Lawyer wants 2 psychologists to testify vs Sereno

- By EMMANUEL TUPAS

Lawyer Lorenzo Gadon wants the two psychologists who performed the psychological examinations on Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno to testify in the impeachment proceedings against her.

Gadon, the complainant in the impeachment case against the top magistrate, said yesterday he plans to file a motion before the House justice committee to invite the two psychologists as witnesses.

Gadon received information that the services of the psychologists were terminated shortly after Sereno became chief justice.

“Right after she assumed the position of chief justice, these two psychologists were terminated. Their contracts were not renewed despite the fact these psychologists have been conducting psychological exams successfully for so many years with the Supreme Court,” he said.

He did not identify the two psychologists. He will submit their names for consideration of the House justice committee.

Gadon said the results of the examinations are vital as it would show Sereno’s unfitness to be the country’s chief magistrate.

Sereno got a grade of 4. The lowest score is 5 while the highest is 1.

Gadon said it means Sereno is not psychologically fit for the job.

He said it is the likely reason for some of Sereno’s questionable actions, which include issuing a resolution without consultation with the SC en

banc, her failure to act on the delayed pension of a 94-yearold widow and her lavish lifestyle.

“It will show the character of the person and why Sereno has some of these actuation,” he said.
