Barbie & Ken spread love and kilig in This Time I’ll Be Sweeter

-

Kapuso artists Barbie Forteza and Ken Chan’s first big-screen outing as a love team, the romantic-dramedy This Time I’ll

Be Sweeter, is touted to be one of this year’s much-anticipated theater releases.

Fans were all agog over the tandem’s scenes as well as the film’s fine quality when the full trailer of the Joel Lamangan-directed opus first made its way on the different social media platforms.

Barbie and Ken initially caught the televiewers’ fancy when they were paired in the hit GMA 7 series Meant To Be. Thus was born the Ken-Bie love team.

This Time I’ll Be Sweeter is different from the pair’s recently-concluded soap. The film requires from Barbie and Ken deeper emotional range but without sacrificing moments of

kilig and laughter. In the movie, Erika (Barbie) and Tristan (Ken) are college classmates. Tristan is the campus crush due to his swimming skills. He and Erika grow close to each other but then the latter is left heartbroken as they part ways. Erika then graduates cum laude and succeeds as a field reporter. Tristan, on the other hand, ends up working for the family-owned airline company. Their paths cross once more when an incident involving Tristan’s family and Erika’s career comes into play.

This prompts Erika to communicate with Tristan for a follow-up on a story she did. That brings them closer again with Erika offering some help so that Tristan may recover from a misfortune.

But is Erika prepared to be hurt again? Can love be sweeter the second time around?

Moviegoers will remember Barbie’s “Dalawang beses mo na akong sinaktan, sobrang tanga ko na gagawin ko pang tatlo di ba?!” scene long after they have left the theater.

Proof enough that she is an actress to reckon with considering her triumph as Best Supporting Actress in the international arena.

Ken himself held his own, trained as he was as a lead star in his very own series, Destiny

Rose, on GMA 7. Thea Tolentino, meanwhile, plays the third wheel in Erika and Tristan’s love story.

This serves as Barbie and Thea’s reunion project after working together in the GMA afternoon series The Half Sisters.

Also in the cast are Ara Mina, Rey Abellana, Neil Ryan Sese, Yayo Aguila, Kim Rodriguez, Hiro Peralta, Akihiro Blanco, Jai Agpangan, Kaki Ramirez, Fiona Young and Jon Leo.

Catch Barbie and Ken in theaters nationwide starting Nov. 8.
