- By RICHMOND MERCURIO

Gardenia Bakeries Philippines is bringing Malaysia’s Delicia chocolate spreads to the Philippines in line with efforts to diversify its product portfolio.

Delicia chocolate spread was launched in Malaysia in 2015 by Gardenia Bakeries (KL) Sdn Bhd.

“Delicia’s success has inspired us to bring it here in the Philippines and give more chocolate spread options that Filipinos can enjoy with Gardenia breads,” said Gardenia Philippines president Jun Umali.

“Breads and spreads are complementary products. Our wide array of bread choices and improvement in the distribution hold the potential to assist the growth of competitively-priced, tasty and quality bread spreads,” he added.

According to Umali, Gardenia’s introduction of Delicia spreads into the Philippine market is an initial step towards the company’s vision to not only be a premiere player in the bakery industry but in the food business as well.

“We are gradually expanding our business. Today, we are able to give consumers the highest level of product satisfaction in the Philippine bakery industry. In the coming months, Filipinos can look forward to new and exciting products which are always in line with Gardenia’s consumer-oriented vision,” Umali said.

Umali said the addition of Delicia chocolate spread in Gardenia’s product portfolio marks a milestone in the company’s growth and expansion into relevant consumer markets.

“We are confident to bring Delicia chocolate spreads to the Philippine market, stamped with the superior Gardenia quality which Filipinos have loved throughout the years,” he said.

Gardenia currently holds more than 60 percent of the packaged bread category with its extensive system of distribution covering the biggest supermarkets and convenience stores down to the small sari-sari stores in Metro Manila and provincial areas.
