Tingzon elected to PoNy baseball international board
Philippine Tot Baseball president Rodolfo Tingzon Jr. was unanimously elected to the Pennsylvania based PONY Baseball and Softball International board during its annual board meeting in Phoenix, Arizona USA recently and vowed to continue the long tradition and noble values instituted by the PONY founders of Asia.
Tingzon will now be in-charge of the 14-nation membership of PONY in the Asian region namely, Australia, Japan, Korea, Chinese Taipei, China, East Russia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, Guam, India, Nepal and the Philippines.
PONY, which stands for Protect Our Nation’s Youth was founded as a baseball program for boys aged 13 and 14 in 1951 and incorporated a Girls Softball program in 1976.
At present, PONY has more than one million annual baseball and softball participants aged 4-23 throughout the world, helping guide the youth to become better citizens through their exposure to the sport.
PONY Baseball and Softball was established in the Philippines in 1974 by Rodolfo Tingzon Sr. while concurrently holding positions of Philippine Amateur Baseball Association (PABA), Manila Bay Baseball League (MBBL) and Little League Philippines.
He, along with friends in Japan, put up the PONY program in Asia in 1975.
Rodolfo Sr. said that he was quite impressed with the growth and success of the Asian organization and wished his son the utmost success in his new position.
