-

NBA and Alaska have reiterated their call for active, healthy lifestyle through the NBA Fit Week with Alaska NBA Fit ambassadors Steven Adams of Oklahoma and former Sacramento coach Reggie Theus gracing the program at the Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyong recently.

Adams, a defensive big man making up the core of the current Thunder squad led by MVP Russell Westbrook and fellow superstars Carmelo Anthony and Paul George, and Theus shared their insights during the highlight of the NBA’s comprehensive health and wellness program before a huge youth crowd.

The event also featured the Jr. NBA Clinicat at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Sta. Mesa campus, which drew 50 children from the PUP neighborhood. It included a beginners’ clinic and an elite training session for the Jr. NBA Alumni conducted by Jeffrey Cariaso and PowerCamp coaches with some Alaska Aces as guests.

The NBA has also renovated and improved PUP’s basketball gym as part of its NBA Cares program.

NBA Fit, with Alaska as partner, encourages the NBA family to “be active, eat healthy and play together” while promoting the values of the game, something that the seven-foot Adams and Theus have embodied in their careers as player and coach, respectively.

The program, which includes a donation of Alaska products to Children’s Hour, featured mostly children participating in warm-up exercises, training clinics, Nutri Talk and Nutri Shot Challenge with the special appearance of Adams and Theus.
