8 dead in Ilocos road mishaps

Six motorcycle riders and two others died in road accidents in the Ilocos region on Friday.

Ryan Cayabyab, 35, was driving his motorcycle when it was hit by a Toyota Fortuner in Barangay Nibaliw Norte, Bautista, Pangasinan.

Also in Pangasinan, the motorcycle driven by Rommel Tagabi, 17, collided with a tricycle in Barangay Cabatling, Malasiqui.

Jennifer Hora, 21, was thrown off a motorcycle driven by Ram John Juan, 19, when it rammed a plant box in Nancalobasaan, Urdaneta while the tricycle driven by Fernando Romua, 65, crashed into a motorcycle in Sumabnit, Binalonan.

In La Union, anti-narcotics agents Mark Anthony Xcevea, 39, was driving his Toyota Altis with Deogracias Mamaril and Ricardo Gallardo when it collided with a trailer truck in Barangay Sta. Lucia, Aringay.

Xcevea and Mamaril died at the scene. Gallardo was injured and confined at the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center.

The truck driver is being held at the Bauang police station.

John Dave Alejo, 17, suffered fatal injuries in the head and face when his motorcycle rammed a steel railing along the road in Barangay San Antonio, Burgos, Isabela.

Trader Eric Mateo’s motorcycle collided with another motorbike in Barangay San Mateo, Tumauini also in Isabela.
