-

From almost 400 hopefuls who braved the screening process, 40 applicants (20 males and 20 females) made it to the final line-up of candidates in the inaugural BPO (Business Process Outsource) pageant of the Philippines, Mr. & Ms. BPO.

The event which zeroes in on the BPO, commonly called call center, aims to pay tribute to the men and women behind one of the most progressive industries in the country today. The birth of Mr. & Ms. BPO also marks a milestone in the history of Philippine pageantry.

The 40 official candidates who came from 25 different BPO companies are making a statement that there’s more to what the people think about those who work in the contact center industry.

And the official candidates are: For the male division, the official candidates and their respective companies are Derick Bocito (Teleperformance, Fairview), Magic Sa-onoy (Acquire Asia Pacific, Shaw Boulevard), Lee Bueno (Teletech, Pioneer), Brent Selma (Opsify, Cebu City), Job Aiax Simpas (NTC Voice Solutions, Makati), Arthur Bilog (Sykes Asia PH, Bonifacio Global City), Iversen Vasquez (RingCentral, EDSA Shaw), Victor Relosa (Sitel Eon), Ariel Noval (Accenture, Eastwood City), Simon delos Reyes (Teletech, Mall of Asia), Al Prince Calilung (Sutherland Global Services, Clark, Pampanga), Yuichi Sekiguchi (IQOR Philippines, SM Dasmarinas), Daniel Sindo (Acquire BPO, Eastwood City), Jonel Roncales (Teletech, Mall of Asia), Rnel Mangahas (Transcom, EDSA-Ortigas), Josh Perez (Accenture, Robinsons Pioneer), Esthan Obusan (Acquire BPO, Robinsons Cyberspace Beta Ortigas), Giovanni Guillermo (Convergys Megamall), Ronnie Cadag (Teleperformance, EDSAGreenfield) and Shadid Sidri (Stellar BPO, Eastwood City).

The official candidates were presented to the members of the media last Oct. 24 at the Antidote Rooftop Bar of I’M Hotel in Makati City. As expected, the candidates impressed everyone with their manner of speaking as they are all fluent in English and very spontaneous and witty. The girls, most especially, can give some beauty queen aspirants a run for their money.

Kudos to Royale Chimes Concerts & Events, Inc., the organizer and producer of the event, for coming up with a ground-breaking concept that highlights the BPO workforce or what we now tag as ang bagong bayani ng bayan or new industry movers.

The winners of the Mr. & Ms. BPO (titleholder, first runners-up and second runners-up) will receive a cash prize as well as the companies they represent.

The Mr. & Ms. BPO finals night is slated on Nov. 21 at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena and is supported by K-Pub Trinoma, Centro Hair Salon, Unified Makeup Artists of the Philippines, Profiles Asia Pacific/People Dynamics, Inc., EDC Photography by Edward dela Cuesta, Discovery Primea, Voyager Innovation, PricewaterhouseCoopers and 360 Fitness Plus-Commonwealth.
