Marriott Clark tops off
a year into construction, Widus International Leisure (WILI), owner of Widus Hotel Casino, with Renaissance Hotels International Corp. Ltd., the company behind the successful chain of Marriott hotels, celebrated a commemorative topping off ceremony as the final patch of its concrete roofing was poured recently.
“We are celebrating another milestone as we set the luxury hospitality bar anew,” Daesik Han, president and CEO of WILI, said. “This ceremonial shoveling of cement signifies that we are a step closer to the completion of Marriott Clark. The prestigious 16-story tower will consist of 260 well-appointed rooms, fullservice restaurants and bar, a grand lobby, a fitness center, a meeting space and a grand ballroom,” he added.
The South Korean businessman also expressed his excitement with Marriott Clark being the first international five-star hotel north of Manila, saying that “it is one of the key factors to Widus’ goal of being a preferred one-stop world-class leisure destination.”
Widus general manager Tarek Aouini shared in his welcome remarks that Han aims to not only put Widus on the global hospitality map but to also add value to the community though “multifaceted projects and future expansion plans all geared towards tourism and economic development.”
The $60-million project is expected to be completed by the first or second quarter of 2018 and seeks to create diverse job opportunities alongside being a distinct place for business and leisure.
Marriott Clark would be the third Marriott-branded hotel in the Philippines, an addition to its chain of establishments in Manila and Cebu.
