Murder suspect nabbed
A policewoman arrested a drunk neighbor shortly after he allegedly killed a garbage collector in Mandaluyong City yesterday.
Senior Police Officer 2 Jean Aguada, 36, chief clerk of the Police Community Relations Unit of the Mandaluyong police, was about to report for duty when a gunshot rang out along Batao street in Barangay Addition Hills at past 7 a.m.
When Aguada rushed out to investigate, she saw Ramil Canana, 41, a jeepney driver, still holding a .38-caliber revolver.
Canana allegedly shot dead Arnold Gallo, alias Ambot, Eastern Police District director Chief Superintendent Romulo Sapitula said.
Sapitula said Aguada and Canana scuffled for the gun.
The policewoman managed to subdue the suspect with the help of their neighbors.
Sapitula lauded Aguada for Canana’s arrest.
Investigation showed that Canana gunned down Gallo following a heated argument over the suspect’s improper disposal of garbage in their neighborhood.
Gallo died at the scene from a gunshot to the body.
The suspect is being held by police on murder charges. –
