8 Abu bandits surrender in Sulu

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Eight suspected Abu Sayyaf bandits have surrendere­d to the military in Sulu, officials said yesterday.

The bandits, all followers of slain Abu Sayyaf leader Alhabsy Misaya, surrendere­d to Lt. Col. Jessie Montoya, chief of the 2nd Special Forces Battalion, at around 7:30 a.m. on Saturday in Barangay Samak, Talipao town.

The surrendere­es, identified as Rakib Usman Mujakkil, 35; Sadhikal Sabi Asnon, 38; Jarrain Elil, 52; Wahab Buklaw, 47; Anggan Ali Sahaw, 43; Bandi Ahadjula, 56; Adih Manis Juhaini, 25, and Alden Banon also yielded their rifles, according to Brig. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, commander of the Joint Task Force Sulu.

Sobejana said the military will continue accepting those who are willing to sur- render and hunt those who keep engaging in unlawful activities.

“We thank the local government units and other stakeholde­rs as well as the peace-loving Tausugs who support our campaign to end terrorism in Sulu,” Sobejana said.
