Anne & Erwan: Not ‘well-kept secret’ and ‘minimal’ Christian wedding

Until the very end, Anne Curtis “fooled” (read: “misled”) the public and the media into believing that she and Erwan Heussaff were getting married last Saturday, Nov. 11. But as early as three months ago, The STAR was tipped off by somebody close to the couple that the actual date was Nov. 12, last Sunday, accurately adding that the bride “would dazzle” in a gown specially designed by Monique Lhuillier for the Christian wedding in New Zealand. The wedding capped their seven-year romance.

A few weeks ago, Anne took a leave from It’s Showtime and took a quick “mysterious” trip to the US and even if she tried desperately hard to hide it, word leaked that she was there to fit the gown. You see, in this age of social media, nobody can hide anything, especially if celebrities like Anne are actually the ones baiting netizens by posting pictures.

My media friends and I don’t understand why showbiz celebrities would deprive the fans (who made them in the first place, who put them where they are now) updates about an important event such as a wedding. I remember what FPJ said when his niece Sheryl Cruz got married to John Norman Bustos (a sheriff in San Francisco, California; they were

divorced) — you know, “Be open to the public,” after all celebrities owe it all to the public.

An explanation to today’s headline: even if Anne was stingy in sharing her and Erwan’s joy with the fans, the wedding was a not-so-well-kept secret; and “minimal” because unlike other celebrity “destination weddings” (like that of Dr. Vicki Belo and Dr. Hayden Kho in Paris last September), Anne and Erwan had only four principal sponsors, namely Swatch Lady Virgie Ramos, Veronique del Rosario-Corpuz (of the Viva Artists Agency, daughter of Boss Vic del Rosario), Anne’s manager Elizabeth “Betchay” Vidanes and Kim Atienza

(It’s Showtime cohost “on indefinite leave”).

Among the invited guests (allexpenses-paid?) were Anne’s other

It’s Showtime cohosts Vice Ganda, Vhong Navarro, Teddy Corpuz, Ryan Bang, Karylle (with husband Yael Yuzon) and Jugs Jugueta; and friends Luis Manzano with girlfriend Jessy Mendiola, and Luis’ ex-girlfriend Angel Locsin with current flame Neil Arce. (People are curious how the “exes” reacted when they crossed paths…unless they avoided or simply ignored each other.)

Anne and Erwan requested for a minute of prayer for It’s

Showtime Hashtag member Franco Hernandez (who belonged to the second batch) who died on Saturday, Nov. 11, in a boat accident in Davao.

To sum it up, Kim added, “Everyone was crying during the ceremony. Erwan was extra emotional.”

No word yet where the honeymoon will be. Secret… as usual! (But stay tuned to social media for updates.)
