Rolls-Royce Motor Cars appoints new GM for APac
ROLLS-ROYCE Motor Cars’ Asia Pacific Office in Singapore is pleased to announce the appointment of Patrik Wiik as the company’s new General Manager. Patrik takes over this key role for the Rolls-Royce business in the region from Michael Schneider, who returns to Germany after three years working across the AsiaPacific region. The regional office covers 29 dealerships across the region, in an area that stretches from India to New Zealand, excluding the Chinese mainland.
Patrik brings with him more than 13 years of experience in the BMW Group, having held senior roles in marketing and dealer development at BMW’s Northern Europe offices headquartered in Stockholm, and an area of responsibility that spanned across Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and the Baltic States.
Most recently, Patrik was Manager of Sales Planning, responsible for forecasting, volume planning and budgets. His regional experience makes him no stranger to navigating through different business cultures, a key expertise that will benefit him in similarlydiverse markets throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
On his new appointment, Patrik said, “It is a real privilege to be working with the pinnacle luxury brand in this vibrant region. There exists a large variability in conditions in the Asia-Pacific region, from markets that are mature like Japan, to emerging markets where great opportunities and challenges await. I look forward to reviewing and developing our business further in an area that promises one of the fastest growth in ultra high net worth individual concentrations.”
According to the Knight Frank Wealth Report 2017, the Asia Pacific region is expected to experience a dramatic growth of Ultra High Net Worth Individuals (UHNWIs), reinforced by stellar growth rates in countries like Japan and South Korea, where growth rates are expected to reach 30 and 40 percent, respectively. Multi-millionaire numbers (with net worths exceeding US$10 million+) are similarly expected to jump from 118,810 to 222,360 over the same period in the region, the highest in the world.
Patrik will be responsible for sales, product and volume planning in the Asia-Pacific region, and will be based in the Singapore office. He reports to Paul Harris, Asia Pacific Regional Director of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
Patrik recently relocated to Singapore with his wife and three daughters; he has an avid interest in languages. During his free time, Patrik enjoys food and travelling.
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is now based at Goodwood in the South of England. First opened in 2003, it employed 200 people, and produced just one motor car a day. By the end of its first decade, the workforce had grown to more than 1,400 and the collection had expanded from the original Phantom to include Ghost and Wraith, with more than 20 cars created a day. Today, over 1,700 engineers and craftspeople reside at the Home of Rolls-Royce.
The Asia-Pacific office handles a region which excludes mainland China, home to 3 billion people. The first showroom in Asia was opened in Singapore in 2003. Significant expansion has occurred over the past year, with new showrooms added in Melbourne, Phuket and Hiroshima. Japan is the region’s largest market, followed by Korea. Almost every RollsRoyce motor car in the Asia Pacific region is Bespoke.
